Bridge Information Modeling (BrIM) used in the operation and maintenance of Civil Engineering Structures (CESs)

Abstract Studies have shown a worrisome condition as to the conservation of Civil Engineering Structures (CESs) in Brazilian highways. This situation mainly results from lack an efficient system for managing such structures, specifically during their operational stage, when periodic maintenance is required. As solution, Bridge Information Modeling (BrIM) has proven be CESs, integrating different technologies into this process. The purpose paper assess how BrIM can contribute improve management procedures these structures. research methodology been divided two stages. first one literature review detailing scenario CESs country, well analysis used tool manage structures general context. second stage case study addressing and process by highway concessionaire important state. concluded that, although recent, adoption growing several countries, it substantially improving stages CESs.
